Class Journal #9

A flipped classroom is where the students are primed with the material on their own before coming to class and discussing it with the teacher after. This can be in the form of online lectures, readings assigned before the class, or any online materials the teacher has posted for the students to complete before class. Then in class, the teacher leads a discussion or some form of exploring the topic more in depth and answering any questions the class has. This way, the students are forced to be more engaged with the material than with a traditional classroom.
OER stands for open education resources. These are tools created for teachers to be able to use at their disposal. Sometimes they are created by teachers for their lesson plans and they want to share, or made by an organization that provides free materials for students on the web. One website that i have used for resources is the Drama Notebook. They have great games and lesson plans that got me started for my elementary school drama class in after school. There are drama games to work on improv, teamwork, and a plethora of other topics. There are more resources if you pay for it, so those wouldn't be OER, but I still was able to find enough to help me.

I have learned a lot from the Powerpoint projects. I was not aware of how to create a powerpoint using the format of following links in the slideshow. I thought it was really cool and you can do a lot of cool things with it. I also didn't know about changing the slide layout. Now I feel much more equipped if I ever have to use PowerPoint for anything. I know how to use much more features. What I don't like about my assignment 4 powerpoint is that you have to double click the action buttons for some reason. I'm not sure how to fix it to where you only need to click once. We'll see about the assignment 5 closer to the due date!!
