Class Journal #7

  •        I loved the web design assignment because I feel like it gave me the creative liberty to work in an area I haven't worked in before. I am not the best with digital design type of things but this website made it super easy and fun. It had a user friendly interface where it was just dragging, dropping, and clicking to add whatever you need. I am really happy with how my website turned out (link here). I learned about implementing design principles. my website could be improved by providing a class syllabus on the class pages, instead of just the books we would read.

Assistive and adaptive technologies are used to help people that need extra care gain independence. They can help support learners by enabling them to participate in regular classroom activities even if they have disabilities in reading writing, or focusing. Technically, a straw could be an assistive technology so I have used that. Technically, reading glasses are as well which my mom uses so I do know someone who has used it. A challenge that could arise from this is that if a student needs some sort of AT, it may be harder for them to keep with the pace of the regular class, so making sure they stay caught up would be important.

With twitter, I definitely need to tweet more. I would get more out of it if I did I think. I guess I just don't love the twitter interface and the concept of only 140 character posts. It's just a little chaotic for me. It has been a challenge to continue to use it because I don't necessarily find it enjoyable, but that is okay because there are probably lots of great technology out there that is not necessarily enjoyable. With the twitter conference backchannel, it is an okay experience. I have no strong opinions against or for it.
