Class Journal #5
I did not particularly enjoy using Diigo. It may have been that I wasn't using it right, but I thought the forum style posts were confusing because I couldn't see who posted what. It was cumbersome to view what was in the posts as well. The way you could use the plug in was kind of cool and useful. I would not use this one in a future classroom because the down sides were too much. There are other ways to connect that have such a smoother interface than this one. I would use the PBworks one though I think that one was really cool for collaborating with other teachers on content/curriculum making.
I like blogging so far! I love how customizable it is; everyone's blogs look completely different. I like the change from the forum style as well. We have the twitter and Diigo that is like a feed of posts, but with blogging you have your own personal space where people can comment, which is fun. I dislike how it is kind of difficult to get the layout you want on the blog, though. I have had trouble picking a design that displays things how I want. I have learned that it is much easier than I thought to get your thoughts out there on the internet, and that there are really blogs for anything out there.
A web 2.0 tool that I might use is a video sharing website such as Zoom call or Facebook video chat. I have seen these tools be used before in the professional world and could be interesting to include in a classroom. depending on the age level, there could be online classrooms where we could connect as a class through these types of interactions. It also could be used to video call in guest lecturers into a classroom. This is a great tool for remote learning and communicating.
