Class Journal #6

The Tech Sandbox was such a fun experience! I never thought I would get to mess around with so many interesting devices. I enjoyed the robot vr game with the gun, super nice. The 3d printing was also definitely a highlight. I would definitely use the 3d printing in my class. It is so interesting how you can download any shape and print it. I would use it for toys, like the ones at tech sandbox, if i was working with younger students In the classroom, I believe there is a place for toys when the kids need a 10 or 15 minute break or if they need to fidget with something those toys would be a great thing for that. Taking short breaks and having something to touch has been shown to improve overall concentration. I would also like to use it for if we ever make diagrams, the kids could use the printer to have some depth to their projects.
This is just one example of how technology can create a more dynamic and interesting setting in my future classroom. I am aware that probably not every form of technology will be available to me when I am a teacher, but if I was able to use anything I would like a promethean board, because those are the ones you can draw on and that's super cool.  I would like this to illustrate my points that I am teaching, and have group discussions where we could take notes on the board together. It's nice when the students are allowed to use it, too. Also, there is a cool scanner at Strozier that I would put in my dream classroom called the KSI scanner. I like using real paper as well because it's less distracting
Looking through some teacher's websites on the Chiles High School webpage, I see links to their textbooks, syllabi. Some teachers didn't use the main page, but had links to their own websites like turnitin.com, a website that checks for plagiarism. There was a teacher who had her students sign up for her class Remind, which is how she made announcements for her geometry classes. The one that I thought was the most well organized and informative was Mrs. Medina's Spanish class. She had different tabs for every section of her class, and had links nicely organized as well. I defeinetly took inspiration from her website for my own on the class website assignment.
